Mark D. Johnson
Mark Johnson, CBI, M&AMI, President of MD Johnson Inc., formerly a new vehicle dealer, used vehicle dealer and automotive platform President, has over 30 years of retail automotive and strategic planning experience. This experience has resulted in his personal involvement in billions of dollars of financial advisory service experience.
Mark is particularly experienced in developing and executing long term strategic plans for the firm’s clients, which include both public and private dealership groups. He has extensive experience in arranging tuck-in acquisitions for its platform operating clients as well as a successful track record of maximizing value in the complex disassembly and liquidation of automotive platforms. Mark is recognized as an expert in State, Federal and Family court relating to the disposition of dealerships and dealership assets as well as advising decedent dealers’ families for estate settlement purposes.
Mark has earned the designation of CBI (Certified Business Intermediary) and M & AMI (Mergers and Acquisitions Master Intermediary) professional designation. Along with a university education, these designations require several years of advanced educational courses and committee-confirmed experience to be conferred upon the applicant. They also require specific, designated ongoing education. A CBI/M & AMI designee is considered the best of the best in M & A and exit planning and is held to the highest professional standards. The M & AMI must also have numerous multi-million dollar transactions to qualify. Currently, he is the only individual in the U.S. specializing in dealership mergers and acquisitions advisory services who has earned the M & AMI conferred by the IBBA/M & A Source.
Mark has been published in numerous automotive publications such as Automotive News, Ward’s, USA Today, and Automotive Buy Sell Report. He has spoken at seminars throughout the United States and South America, including seminars for Car Dealer Insider, the Chrysler Minority Dealer Association Annual Meeting, and as the succession planning speaker for CAVEM, the Chilean Dealer Association in 2013. All presentations pertained to succession, buying, selling and valuing automobile dealerships.
Mark was educated at Eastern Washington University in Washington State and resides in Seattle, Washington.
